1. Minutes of the last meeting
The minutes of the last meeting held on 11th April 2005 were accepted as a correct record.

2. Matters arising
(i) Diabetic Screening meeting – reported by Robert Hughes. The start date for the scheme has been put back because of funding issues. Permission needs to be got to overspend the budget. There isn’t any money available to pay the optometrists. The number of cameras will not be expanded. The reasons for this are, costs of annual maintenance and software licensing.
(ii) Joint Ophthalmic Planning Group – Robert Hughes asked Alex Gage at the next meeting to ask the group for clarification around protocol for referring to eye casualty.
(iii) Pathway for Low Vision referral, suggested protocol – David Shepherd asked Alex Gage to present this to the JOP Group.

3. Correspondence
1. Letter from Jon Stokes to committee re Karen Donning. Karen is asking for a list of opticians who would be willing and confident in seeing people with severe learning difficulties. The committee agreed that sending a questionnaire to all optoms raising this question. Added to the questionnaire will be who would be willing to see under 2 years of age and do they have a range of very small frames. Jon Stokes is to action this.
2. Letter from South East Sheffield NHS. PCT re conciliators and clinical advisors. The letter gives information about 3 nominations for conciliators and clinical advisors. Martin Kemp is one of the names on this list. Robert Hughes is to check with Martin that he’s okay with this.

4. Any Other Business
1. A Low Vision Exhibition is to be held at Sheffield College, Granville Road site on 15th October.
2. Information to all Sheffield Optometrists – the committee agreed that this would be a good way to keep people informed. Jon Whittle is to contact Liz Keyworth to see if FHSA has a list of email addresses.
