Infection Control
Following the talk on infection control by Angela Billings, Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner from NHS Sheffield, we can now give you the details of NHS approved hand hygiene and disinfection wipes.
For alcohol hand rubs, the three products are:
Purell Hand Sanitising Gel
“Softalind visco rub” by B Braun
Spirigel Alcohol Hand Gel by Ecolab
The disinfection wipes are:
PDI Sani-cloth Detergent Wipe
Azo Wipes
Sani-cloth active alcohol free disinfectant wipe
These are mostly available from Williams Medical Supplies (01685 844739 or http://www.wms.co.uk), where you can also find hand moisturisers. The Azo wipes are available from Midoptic.
Angela is happy to help with any infection control issues you might have, and she is able to loan equipment that can be used to demonstrate good hand hygiene. These are “glow and tell” light boxes, which demonstrate how effective your hand hygeine techinques are, and will serve as your mandatory annual hand hygiene update on completion.
