Paediatric Referral Refinement Update
The Paediatric Referral Refinement Scheme (PRR) has been running for some months now and on the whole is working well. To ensure the scheme performs safely and efficiently, please note the following:
Send a PRR report form for all referrals received
1: Send the completed PRR reports within 48 hours of the patient attending. This needs to be done for each and every visit
2: If the parent/guardian has not contacted the practice within one week of receiving the referral, please telephone the parent/guardian to arrange an appointment using the contact number given on the referral form
3: If contact cannot be made after reasonable attempts or if the patient does not attend their appointment, you must notify the SCH using the PRR report form and ticking the relevant box (DNA or no contact) AND report to the patients GP. This is essential from a safeguarding perspective
4: If you refer a child into secondary care, use a GOS18. A PRR report must still be sent to the SCH and to the GP. Please indicate on the GOS18 that PRR has been carried out
Please note that the “date of first contact” required on the PCT invoice form refers to the date on which the practice first spoke with the parent/guardian to arrange the appointment. Please note that this supersedes any previous advice. The PCT use this information to ensure that appointments are being given within the two week deadline. If the patient chooses a later appointment, please note this on the claim form sent to the PCT.
There has been a problem with the fax machine used at SCH for the service. This is currently being resolved.
UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE FAX TO 01142267878 for PRR reports however, we encourage the use of NHS.net email where possible. An electronic version of the report is available on the Sheffield LOC website.
The payment from the PCT was negotiated to allow time for administration of the reports. Payment by the PCT will become dependent on the completion and return of both PRR reports to SCH and invoice to the PCT finance department.
The LOC will contact all practices in a few weeks time to answer any questions you may have in relation to the above information.
Thank you for all the good work.
